| "F.E." was working around stock cars when a teammate's neighbor (Danny Walters, crew chief of the Circus Circus) needed someone to wire the Oberto boat. He got "suckered in" and has been working on boat electrical systems, electronics, computing, data acquisition and telemetry systems ever since. After wiring the Oberto, Randy spent some time with Dr. Ken Muskatel and then moved on to the Jeronimo crew, working on Jeronimo boats while owned by Bob Fendler, Jerry Rise and then Kim Gregory. Randy has watched the unlimited boats go from a half dozen switches and four relays to the miles of wire and computer systems installed in many of today's boats. Many of these systems were designed and built by Randy himself, earning him the nickname of "F. Einstein" or simply "F.E." Randy joined the U-4 team after receiving a call from Greg Fogle. Randy build many of the original electrical systems in the U-20 that are still used in the U-4. |
