"Big Al" started working on hydroplanes in 1995 with Tom Henly on Bob Fendler's boat the Appian U-19 Renegade. In the following years, Al worked with the U-19 and U-20 Appian Jeronimo through the 1999 season. In 2000, Al joined the USA Racing partners team and worked on the U-5, the U-10 and the U-15 through the 2001 season. Al joined the U-4 team after receiving a call from Greg Fogle who told him the project was under way. Al brings his engineering and fabrication skills to the team with a long history of racing in motorcycles, go carts, 1/4 midgets, sprint cars, Winston West, Winston Cup and N.W. Tour racing.
